The challenges we face

Companies, especially SMEs, can face significant challenges to introduce their new and innovative products into the NHS. The complexity of public procurement, patient safety and a risk averse culture across multiple organisations can be daunting. The Innovation Nexus aims to provide a single source of resource that can help companies, particularly SMEs, understand the steps that need to be taken to support their business planning and engage with the NHS more easily, thus progressing the adoption of their innovation at pace and with fewer unanticipated obstacles.

New opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises in Greater Manchester and East Cheshire

Working in partnership with the GM Business Growth Hub and the Innovation Agency (North West Coast AHSN),  Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN) is helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to do business with the NHS.

With funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), GM AHSN will support SMEs across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire with innovative products and services to improve healthcare, create savings and grow their businesses.

Dr Linda Magee, Executive Director Industry & Wealth at GM AHSN says:

“A key focus for GM AHSN is giving smaller companies opportunities to break through the complexity of the NHS. With these programmes, we will take into account the specific needs of each SME, tailoring the support we offer to ensure they are able to progress their innovation to the next level.”

If you are a SME based in Greater Manchester or East Cheshire or with an innovative product, service or technology that you believe has the potential to benefit the NHS, register your interest in GM AHSN’s business support programmes by visiting the Innovation Nexus portal and registering a Business Support Enquiry highlighting that you want to join the SME Business Growth Programme.
